Rainbow Honey The Yokai Collection

Rainbow Honey has a trio out for this year's Halloween and I was graciously sent the three to review so... here they are!

The inspiration for the collection is drawn upon Japanese mythological creatures. Not something I am familiar with but it does sound very cool.

Kitsune. Three coats. Camel with heavy gold shimmer and orange, gold and copper glitter. I've seen this one pull quite yellow on others. It almost looks like a nude on me. Not something I'd usually go for but it worked surprisingly well with my skin. On an additional note, a kitsune is a nine-tailed fox... anyone else jump straight to this?

Kawako. Three coats. Deep denim blue with bright blue shimmer and silver flaky-microglitter. There were also large opalescent flakes which I actually did not warm to. I couldn't really spot them on the nail and they made application a little clumpy.

Oni. Three coats. A black base filled with gold flaky-microglitter and red/purple shimmer. Reminiscent of OPI Holiday Glow. I loved that one and I love this one - it's totally up my alley and my favourite of the three. I especially love how heavy those mini gold flakes are.

The Yokai is limited edition for Halloween 2012. Rainbow Honey is available here.

Metallic gold leopard konad

I've been doing a bit of konadery lately. Something I haven't done in a little while. Here is today's KOTD.

Most of the time, I swing between hating animal prints to really enjoying them. Clearly, it is right up my alley today and I am quite fond of this mani. Here's what I used:

I started with a base of China Glaze Passion, konaded the print with plate BM221 and then filled in most of the spots with Essence BBC Golden Sands which I mixed with a varying amounts of Passion to create different shades.

Super Klassy!!

Lynnderella Golden Rules

Holographic gold glitter goodness! My favourite shapes in this are the lovely golden hearts. I don't think they are as plentiful as the others but I did manage to get two on my right hand :)

One coat of Golden Rules over DR 06. Kind of night sky-ish over such a blue! The blue itself was really strange though... can you see how the colour bled onto some of the glitters making them look 'buried within' and kind of fuzzy around the edges? Strange phenomenon but I think the effect was pretty cool.

Lynnderella is available here.

NOTD Spam

Just some of what's been on my nails lately.

A-England Saint George konaded with ChG 2030 and plate BM20. Saint George is such a gorgeous and saturated teal. Opaque in one single coat as well!

Gradient done with Etude's Wannabe Perfumed Syrup Nails set. Look how pretty the packaging is...

Pa A20. Bight jelly-esque blue. I really need more Pa's. I adore each and every one I have.

Lynnderella Change over Essence Nude It! I've done this exact combination before but I adored it so much I wanted to wear it again.

Big Universo Espectral over black. A beauty from Brazil. The flakies are really dense in this one. Only one coat is pictured above.

Lynnderella Funny Money Part 2

Here's the second part of Funny Money!

Two coats of Mysterious Ways over Missha VL001. I layered MW over a lilac because I wanted to bring out the purple tones in the polish. The holographic glitter looks awesome glinting through the sheer base. It's ethereal looking. Really lovely!

Two coats of Attitude Adjust-Mint over ChG Re-Fresh Mint. Ahhh this one is so cool. I love the iridescent green-y, gold-y glitter. I think I should have chosen a different base though. Maybe a softer mint green... the China Glaze looks pretty stark doesn't it?

Two coats of Change over Essence Nude It. This one was one of the Lynn's I was most excited for. It doesn't disappoint! It's freaking perfect.... the best gold glitter ever. Actually, a lot of the glitter isn't even gold. There's silver, copper, flecks of red and green and also note that big ass bronze hex on my ring! I was stumped on what to layer this over though... Gold to match? Purple to contrast? I settled on a tan-based nude. I think it looks really nice!

Two coats of I Can Afford It! over Ulta3 Frog Prince. Bright as hell green glitter with specks of copper and purple. Did I mention it's really bright? It's kind of like a very subtle Mardis Gras mani...

As always, please check Lynnderella's blog and Llarowe for more info. I believe neither Lynn or Leah Ann will be selling until the new year.

NYX Girls Gilded Glitter

One of my favourites from the new NYX line. It's so very unique. I don't own anything like it.

Gilded Glitter is essentially a tonne of different sized, irregular gold flakes in a clear base. Some are tiny and some are pretty large. But the flakes themselves are unusual. Here's a close-up...

I'm big! Click me!
The flakes are metallic gold shards. Not like your regular flaky polishes and definitely not gold leaf flakes (a la Rococo). This is two coats on black. Pretty awesome!

Holo Spammah!

In honour of my newly acquired Ikea Jansjo, I've whipped up some holo spam! Well technically a couple of these are holo glitters... but they are just so purdy!

I apologise if you notice any bumps on my middle and index fingers since I've got silk patches on those and haven't buffed down quite enough.

Nubar Reclaim. Green holo! Going Green was such a beautiful collection. A green lover's dream.

China Glaze Octa-Gone Wild. There are several versions of this floating around. I *think* I have the original release.

China Glaze Techno Teal. I know a lot of people were disappointed in the Tronica collection because they were hoping for more in your face holos. I love them for what they are though. The subtle holo effect is beautiful in the sun.

Ozotic 524. This is a strange one. It's a bronzey-brown frosty holo... weird. The first pic I took in the shade to show the frosty base a little better. This is certainly very unique, I've never seen anything quite like it, but it's still not my favourite.

BK 20. I've shown this one before but it's so beautiful it deserves more pics. Linear red holo. It pulls a lot less pink than Ozotic 518 and it also has a foily finish so it's still sparkly and interesting indoors when it's not spitting out rainbows :D

Missha HKH01. I've swatched this probably over five times before and I've never got colour accurate pics until now. It's so awesome. HKH01 is a crap tonne of dirty gold and holo microglitter chucked into a matching base. The glitter is so fine that I you can't actually discern any of the holo pieces - you just know they're there because they sparkle and dance in the light so prettily.

Kleancolor Holo Chrome over Color Club Pucci-licious. Eeeep, my skin is so yellow here! Well, at least the polish is showing up as colour accurate. Holo Chrome... a $1.75 masterpiece.

Economy Class (an MPJ franken) over black. I made this guy ages ago... I think it was sometime in April last year when I was really lemming the original MPJ something bad. Recipe: ~2/3 Ozotic 509 and ~1/3 black. Holo frankens are so simple to make!

China Glaze OMG. I don't wear this by itself a lot since there are so many other silver holos out there and this one konads so well. Example here.

Yay holos! They are probably my second favourite finish right behind duochromes and just a smidgen ahead of glitters.*
