NOTD Yellow to pink gradient

Before I get started, I just want to mention that I'm trying harder at Social Media. You can follow me on Twitter and Instagram (both @steffalaa)!

I found this adorable knit cardigan while shopping the other day...

Isn't it cute? I loved the gradient so much that I wanted to do it on my nails as well.

The gradient is done on a base of Revlon Powderpuff which seems to be my go-to undies for so many things. The yellow is American Apparel Butter, the salmon Orly Pixy Stix and the pink Cult Nails Devious Nature.

I felt quite giddy having my nails match my clothes today. Usually, I don't give a second thought to being matchy-matchy unless it's for a formal occasion or special event.

NOTD KBShimmer Bejeweled over Orly Royal Navy

I know this blog has been a little slow lately... my bad. I've been neglectful. The good news is that I have quite a backlog to post.

Last night, I met up with the ever lovely Kristy from The Polish Haven for a little dinner while she was here in Melbourne. As if I wasn't already a total loon, I got a tad umm... "directionally challenged" on the way to the restaurant. Doh.

Kristy had on this gorgeous dark purple shimmer by Dior which I absolutely have to get. And here is what I was wearing.

One coat of Bejeweled over two of Royal Navy. I had to shake RN quite vigorously to get the shimmer unstuck from the bottom of the bottle but man, it's so gorgeous. Bejeweled is full of blue, purple, teal and sandy copper hexes. Quite lovely.

I had a blast with Kristy and I hope we can meet up again soon to chat

Orly Space Cadet

I haven't pulled out Space Cadet in a long time - since the year it was released. I wore it the other day and realised that I've completely forgotten how much I love it!

Three coats. So crazy duochrome. I always have trouble catching colour shifts on camera but no such problem here. Love.

KOTD Orly Matte Vinyl and China Glaze Millennium

I haven't konaded in long and I had a hankering today. Not my best konad but I like the way it turned out.

I started with two coats of Orly Matte Vinyl. I loveeee it! It's black with no shininess at all. I've heard that KO Flatte Black is "blacker" but I haven't tried it and I think I'm pretty happy with the Orly.

Then I konaded some chains with China Glaze Millennium and plate BM12

It's far from perfect, but you can't really tell IRL. I think the matte base made it harder to konad on since it seemed like the polish didn't want to stick to it. I really do like the way it turned out though :D

Orly Glitz & Glamour

Glitz & Glamour came out for Holiday 2010 and jumped straight into my favourites. It's my favourite gold though admittedly I don't have Dazzled By Gold. That's one of my biggest lems!

Intense burnished gold. It's so rich and sparkly. Like, REALLY sparkly. The gold foily particles in it are very reflective. I've worn this one a lot. I think I'll need to get myself a backup bottle soon...

A Sampling of a Few Greens I Like

Green is probably my favourite nail polish colour. I can't get enough of it. Greens are the shiz. Here's a few I like.

China Glaze Jolly Holly. Lovely dark forest green shimmer. The shimmer leans golden in this and gives the green a little warmth and so much depth. Beautiful! I love it!

Precision McDreamy. One of those many jade green cremes that have come out lately. Not unique but such a lovely colour. Awesome application too- two smooth coats.

Revlon Emerald City. Dark green with bright emerald shimmer. Dries semi-matte. I'm not too keen on the finish of the Revlon Matte Suedes. I like my matte polishes really matte and my shiny polishes really shiny - stuff in between doesn't really tickle my fancy. But holy poop... just look at the colour.

Orly Green Apple. It's not a jelly but there's something about the colour that just says "I'm juicy. EAT ME." Needless to say, I absolutely adore it.

I'm having a few troubles lately so these are older pics. I hope you guys don't mind!

OPI You Don't Know Jacques Suede and a couple of Random Orlys

I'm not really a big matte fan but the I really do like those shimmery mattes like Zoya Matte Velvets and OPI Suedes. The shimmer has so much depth. and they also look really awesome with a glossy top coat.

Here is YDKJ Suede

Two coats. In my experience these are easier to apply than the non-shimmery mattes because they dry a little slower giving you more time to work with it on the nail.I love all those little metallic glittery bits in the Suede polishes so so much! I wish I had an awesome camera so that I could show you the detail. Check out Cilucia's shots of Russian Navy Suede here. See what I mean?? HOLY CRAP!

With top coat. Look at all the depth. Though I do think I like this one better matte.

And here are a couple of Orlys I swatched recently

Snowcone. I have worn this blue a few times as NOTD which is pretty rare for me since I try to go through my untrieds as quickly as possible. It's beautiful. There's something about this shade of blue that just really appeals to me. This is two coats and it's perfect. The mini gloss that came with it was also surprisingly really nice.

Enchanted Forest. My bottle was missing the dangly charm that came with this collection :( LOL. Dark green creme. I can't ever have enough of these kinds of colours.
