Pahlish Train Underwater and some bottle spam

Not too much jabber today.... mostly pics :)

Three coats of Train Underwater. It's darker than the pictures above (which make it look very bright). I absolutely love the pink and red glitters against the blue. Very complex. I'm very excited to try the others I got. In fact, I already have a second order on it's way :D Pahlish can be found on Etsy here.

Now for some bottle spam. Firstly, of course, Pahlish.

And finally, a franken by Crowstoes.

Holo Spammah!

In honour of my newly acquired Ikea Jansjo, I've whipped up some holo spam! Well technically a couple of these are holo glitters... but they are just so purdy!

I apologise if you notice any bumps on my middle and index fingers since I've got silk patches on those and haven't buffed down quite enough.

Nubar Reclaim. Green holo! Going Green was such a beautiful collection. A green lover's dream.

China Glaze Octa-Gone Wild. There are several versions of this floating around. I *think* I have the original release.

China Glaze Techno Teal. I know a lot of people were disappointed in the Tronica collection because they were hoping for more in your face holos. I love them for what they are though. The subtle holo effect is beautiful in the sun.

Ozotic 524. This is a strange one. It's a bronzey-brown frosty holo... weird. The first pic I took in the shade to show the frosty base a little better. This is certainly very unique, I've never seen anything quite like it, but it's still not my favourite.

BK 20. I've shown this one before but it's so beautiful it deserves more pics. Linear red holo. It pulls a lot less pink than Ozotic 518 and it also has a foily finish so it's still sparkly and interesting indoors when it's not spitting out rainbows :D

Missha HKH01. I've swatched this probably over five times before and I've never got colour accurate pics until now. It's so awesome. HKH01 is a crap tonne of dirty gold and holo microglitter chucked into a matching base. The glitter is so fine that I you can't actually discern any of the holo pieces - you just know they're there because they sparkle and dance in the light so prettily.

Kleancolor Holo Chrome over Color Club Pucci-licious. Eeeep, my skin is so yellow here! Well, at least the polish is showing up as colour accurate. Holo Chrome... a $1.75 masterpiece.

Economy Class (an MPJ franken) over black. I made this guy ages ago... I think it was sometime in April last year when I was really lemming the original MPJ something bad. Recipe: ~2/3 Ozotic 509 and ~1/3 black. Holo frankens are so simple to make!

China Glaze OMG. I don't wear this by itself a lot since there are so many other silver holos out there and this one konads so well. Example here.

Yay holos! They are probably my second favourite finish right behind duochromes and just a smidgen ahead of glitters.*

*Subject to change at any moment :)

Franken - Here, have a Rainbow

Such a simple, simple franken. My goal was a really sheer holo top coat akin to DS Shimmer and PCFS except sheerer. Those two are nice but IMO they are too dense to layer over something dark.

FULL ON DOUBLE RAINBOW!

Here is one coat over LA Girl Millennium, a dark purple foil.

Under artificial light...

And in weaksauce sun

I wish I had better pics to show you guys. It really is very nice but I suck at picking up holos on camera.

The recipe is simple. One third of a nice silver holo and two thirds of clear. Easy peasy! I used Ozotic 509 as my silver holo. I have a... "generous" supply of backups of 509 and I figured it'd be okay if I frankened some of it. LOL

I loved how the bottle looked as I was pouring!

Such a neat effect!

Black Holo Comparison

I got more nail wheels in the mail yesterday so I decided to dig out all my black holos and do a little comparison.

From L to R we have Bloom London, Glitter Gal (Sparkle) Black, BK 02, Catherine Arley 805 and Economy Class (my MPJ franken)

I made the franken about a year ago and sent some over to a friend with the original charcoal MPJ and she confirmed they were dupes in terms of colour and holoness except mine was a little more opaque. I've since added just a touch of clear to get an exact dupe.

Also, I decided not to include ChG Let's Do It In 3-D, CC Revvvolution etc because I felt they weren't dark enough to be considered black.

Anyway, enough jabbering from me...

I've kept the pics extra large so click for a lot more detail. This is 2 coats of each except for the MPJ franken which is 3 coats.

You can see here that the first two, Bloom London and Glitter Gal Black are scattered holos while the other three are linear.

Closeups...
Again, you can click to make them much bigger.

At first I thought these two were dupes. But as you can see, the Glitter Gal is clearly more holo- the particles in it seem to reflect a more distinct rainbow than the Bloom which is really, really weak.

Out of these three, the least holo was Catherine Arley 805. The holo effect in this one seemed a little less pronounced and it mostly reflected red/orange/yellow instead of the full rainbow.
The other two (BK 02 and my MPJ franken) are very similar except the BK is almost opaque in one coat while my MPJ franken requires at least three. Also, the base colour of the BK is very obviously black while the franken leans charcoal.

After I did this comparison I decided to do my nails in BK 02.

Can you see a corner of my middle nail broke off? It's too low down to make all my nails that length :( Oh well, what can you do.

Hope you enjoyed!

Random Spammity!

I think the polish fumes have healing powers. I feel so much better today! How about a dish of freshly cooked spam?

Rimmel Blue Me Away. Gorgeous and according to Kaz, discontinued.

Revlon Gumdrop. Smells exactly like the bubble gum that comes out of those Gumball machines! *inhales*

China Glaze Recycle. The perfect grey cream with no blue undertones. Actually, it leans very green on me.

Bloom Osaka. I love the glass-flecky finish of this one.

OPI Ink. A classic that's as lovely as ever.

Borghese Almondine. What a strange shade. Someone mentioned it looked like oatmeal soap. Agreed!

OPI Last Friday Night over black. The black really brings out the the detail in all the different glitters.

Snozzberry Juice. This is a franken I made. Named after my favourite line in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. "The snozzberries taste like SNOZZBERRIES!"

LA Girl Punk. This one has a purple flash in certain lights which I couldn't capture.

Mario the Bun would like to shake yer hand...

*squeeee*
