Rainbow Honey The Yokai Collection

Rainbow Honey has a trio out for this year's Halloween and I was graciously sent the three to review so... here they are!

The inspiration for the collection is drawn upon Japanese mythological creatures. Not something I am familiar with but it does sound very cool.

Kitsune. Three coats. Camel with heavy gold shimmer and orange, gold and copper glitter. I've seen this one pull quite yellow on others. It almost looks like a nude on me. Not something I'd usually go for but it worked surprisingly well with my skin. On an additional note, a kitsune is a nine-tailed fox... anyone else jump straight to this?

Kawako. Three coats. Deep denim blue with bright blue shimmer and silver flaky-microglitter. There were also large opalescent flakes which I actually did not warm to. I couldn't really spot them on the nail and they made application a little clumpy.

Oni. Three coats. A black base filled with gold flaky-microglitter and red/purple shimmer. Reminiscent of OPI Holiday Glow. I loved that one and I love this one - it's totally up my alley and my favourite of the three. I especially love how heavy those mini gold flakes are.

The Yokai is limited edition for Halloween 2012. Rainbow Honey is available here.

Rainbow Honey The Worst Possible Thing

"Of all the worst things that could happen! This is..." well, clearly not it. It's quite lovely actually.

One coat over China Glaze Grape Pop. The Worst Possible Thing is my favourite of the collection. It's very busy, but in a subtly sparkly way.

Then I saw Lauren layer this over black and it looked so amazing I had to copy her.

One coat. You can really see the iridescent shards when it's over black. The whole look is kind of galaxy-like, no? Rainbow Honey can be found here.

CrowsToes Triple Black Diamond

I was at a loss trying to figure out what to put this over. It's opaque on it's own at three coats but I wanted a base. In the end I settled for this...

Triple Black Diamond over A-England St George. One coat of each. I didn't want to layer it over black since I thought that might drown out the black glitter, but I also didn't want a very light base either. I thought St George ended up being perfect. I especially love that green-to-blue colour shifting glitter in Triple Black Diamond. It's very cool and the colours work together perfectly.

Pretty Serious Hello World Collection

Sorry for being MIA. The past week has been very busy and stressful. If anyone ever finds a cure for migraines... please, tell me!

Onto some more awesome news. Kaz over at Pretty Random is gearing up for the launch of her line, Pretty Serious Cosmetics. Today I have the polishes from her inaugural collection, Hello World to show you which I won from Kaz's haiku competition last year :D

Check out the lovely packaging!

Now onto the swatches!

Morning Java. Two coats. A shimmery caramel brown with flecks of golden microglitter. My favourite of the collection and also one of my new favourite browns. It's gorgeous. Brown and gold are so good together! This has both shimmer and glitter yet it is not bumpy looking at all. Love.

Forbidden Fruit. Two coats. White creme with iridescent silver shimmer. Actually, it's not a pure white. It has a strong blue-grey cast. Most pretty! The formula on this was a little  fluffy - what I mean by that is it felt like the polish had been whipped (haha) and was light and airy. Still creamy and opaque though, only needed two coats. Not too shabby for a white!

Tux. Two coats. Black with a subtle teal shimmer. This is really dark and rich. There was a slight purple duochrome in the bottle but I didn't catch it on the nail. Tux reminds me of a smooth shimmer version of OPI Unripened.

BSOD. Three coats. Fine blue glitter in a cobalt jelly. It's insanely sparkly. One word... depth. If you like blue glitters, you'll definitely love this. Beautiful!

CGA. Two coats. A medium pink creme with blue-green shimmer. My pictures show this lighter and cooler than it appears IRL. Also, the shimmer looks silver here. I swear it's not! Very lovely but I'm still undecided about how I like it with my skin tone. I'll have to wear it as a full mani to see.

VT100. Two coats. A pine green with heavy gold shimmer. I love yellow based greens! A close second favourite for me. The shimmer makes this polish. It's so dense and almost resembles a glass-fleck or microglitter. Completely droolworthy.

And don't forget, all these shades come in a matching loose eyeshadow and lipgloss! They'll be available for sale on Monday at www.pretty-serious.com. Also be sure to check Kaz's blog (one of my favourites!) to keep updated.

Woohoo for Aussie-based companies! And woohoo for Kaz!

Some Christmas Konads

I can't believe there's only a week till Christmas is here. Time goes by so quickly... so here's my first holiday post of the season!

This is white Special polish with konad plate M79 on black. I then dotted some red and green at the intersections. This was a really subtle Christmas mani... you can't really tell it has a festive theme until you get up close.

OPI Got the Blues for Red. Two coats. Stars from plate M37 with China Glaze 2030. Another subtle festive mani and super simple. I really enjoyed wearing this though. I haven't put on a plain red creme in ages  and the stars I thought were a nice touch.

Two coats of China Glaze Emerald Sparkle with white candy cane stripes from plate BM20. I think I needed an extra coat of ES since I see bald spots in a few places but I wanted it to dry quicker so I could konad on it. Yay Candy Canes! Minty, sugary goodness!

Four More Lynnderellas

So uhh, I received my new Lynnderella package containing her new collection today and realised that I haven't even posted the rest of the Early Halloween's. My bad!

Shape Shifter. One coat over black. There are so many different shaped holographic glitters in this. I got a moon, star, butterfly and diamond in this swatch but I've also seen squares, hexes, hearts and flowers!

Bibbity Bobbity Boo Blue. Two coats over Pure Ice French Kiss (thanks Noelie!). All different shades of blue glitter. Put them together and what have you got? Bibbity bobbity boo.....

Bride of Franken. Two coats on black. Shimmer, holo microglitter and electric blue glitter. This one layers really nicely over pretty much anything!

Mercury's Rainbow. Two coats over Ulta3 Wild Berry. Just take a look at all that holoiness right there. Amazing! It's so sparkly in the sun.

For more information please check Lynnderella's blog. She's not opening shop until the new year though so be sure to stay tuned!
