BB Couture Erotic Night

A recent NOTD. I've yet to meet a vampy I like more than this one.

Three coats. Deep maroon jelly. It also has a hidden shimmer which can only be seen under very bright light. Looks exactly like red wine. I'm not exactly the biggest wine fan ... but I can definitely appreciate it in nail polish form :D

Lynnderella Very Pretty Vampire and Glitter Tamer

The name matches this polish perfectly! She is indeed vampy and very, very pretty :D
"Multiple sizes of burgundy hexagons and squares in a dark blood-red base with scattered black and red multi-sized accents. Suitable for any blood type."
I layered this one coat over two of BB Couture Erotic Night. I personally really love it over a vampy but the burgundy glitter can kind of blend into the base. If you're wanting more definition (is that the right word?) of the glitter, you can always layer it over a lighter base like the lovely Karianne did.

And I want to mention this because I've been asked a couple of times, you can of course wear these by themselves. I choose to layer them because I love layering glitter and I want to preserve the pretty polish, hahaa!

Isn't she pretty? The black and red glitter are such lovely lowlights and highlights to the burgundy...

I found that Very Pretty Vampire dried really bumpy on my wheel swatch so I decided this was a perfect time to try out Glitter Tamer. I wrote down some thoughts on GT. I hope they are useful if Lynn ever makes it available for purchase in the future....

First thing, this stuff is thick. It's exactly how she describes it - like caramel. Thick and stringy. I added thinner to my bottle until it was completely full. That helped a little both with the thickness and strings.

One coat of Glitter Tamer then SV. SHINY! Holy hell my mani was so freaking shiny. It also wore really well. I wore VPV for two days. If I hadn't removed it, I doubt my mani would have chipped for days and days. There was no tip wear, no nothing.

Speaking of removal... this was much harder for my acetone to cut though. Not that I minded much. I usually use the foil method to remove heavy glitters anyway. I soaked my nails longer than usual and it mostly slid off my nails. Then it took a little scrubbing with felt and acetone to remove any glitter left behind.

So yeah... Glitter Tamer. Delicate application. Blinding shine. Tricky removal. Extraordinary for hungry glitters.

This is completely worth the little extra effort it requires. Two thumbs up!

Past NOTD Spam

My nails are getting.... better. They should be all right after my next chop! Stupid peelies. In the mean time, here's some past NOTD spam.

China Glaze Lighthouse over Precision The Next It Girl. Sparkly yellow-gold glass fleck!

Here is The Next It Girl by itself...

Creamy egg-yolk yellow. Kind of seems like a blatant rip off of OPI The It Color. It is very nice nevertheless.

Anna Sui 300 over black. Anna Suis come in cute little rose bottles and smell like roses. Yummy! Plus, round glitter is surprisingly quite unusual.

BB Couture Bonnie. BBC glitter in a lush green, slightly jelly base. Awesome, awesome, awesome.

Flomar U31. Deep, almost black base filled with duochrome flaky shimmer. It flashes predominantly purple to pink and ever so slightly golden at extreme angles. Thanks to Kristy and Erina for letting me know about this :)

China Glaze Something Sweet. I haven't seen myself wear pink for quite a while now. So many pinks just look off on me. I did like this one though!

Unnamed Sasatinnie over Australis Here Today Gone Tomorrow. I picked up the Sasatinnie really cheap while I was in Asia. It's got smaller silver, green and blue glitter with larger yellow (gold?) glitter. It's very nice layered.

And the Australis by itself...

How nice is this?! Erina tells me it's a dupe for Illamasqua Rampage. A beauty!

Australis Blue Tiger with China Glaze Cracked Concrete. I'm not too sure I'm so fond of this combo. I think it would have looked better with white crackle instead.

Precision Toxic-Wasting My Time. Reddish, caramel-y brown with lots and lots of gold shimmer. I really loved wearing this. I do so very much enjoy gold shimmer.... :)

Some Red Spam

Reds can be so overdone but they are so very sexy! I know some people have trouble finding reds that suit their skin tone (kittytokaren!!) but I don't think I've ever met a red that has looked "off" on me. I've met some I didn't like, but never one that didn't suit my skin tone. Here are just a few I enjoy...

China Glaze Phat Santa. Love the name, love the colour. It's slightly jelly-ish.

Here it is with a coat of Dare to Wear Disco Ball sandwiched between. I loved this mani.

BB Couture Napa Valley Red. A particularly gorgeous take on the "red glitter in red jelly" polishes. It's a little deeper than others I have but not so deep that it's vampy. Actually, I'm wondering if the formula's changed since my bottle seems much lighter than other pics I've seen.

Chi Chi Va Va Va Voom. I keep wanting to write that as just Va Va Voom with only two Va's. Anyway, it's a bright red with hidden pink shimmer. The shimmer didn't want to come out and play in any of my pics though.

China Glaze Thunderbird. Super glowy metallic red. My camera had a mild freak out trying to capture this one.

Bloom Adelaide AKA Jessica Mauboy I. I heard that Jessica Mauboy I has been discontinued which is a shame since it's one of my favourites. Lots of lovely flaky shimmer.

Reds always apply so nicely, so smooth and opaque. I think it has something to do with the pigment... just like how yellow is always a little troublesome. Sometimes, at moments like this, I even understand why Suzi seems to love them so much.

OPI Black Cherry Chutney and BB Couture Erotic Night

Two of my favourite red-based vampies. I adore both of these...

OPI Black Cherry Chutney. Dark raisin red with this glorious magenta shimmer. The shimmer really pops in the sun but it's still there and visible in lower lighting. I've worn this one a lot...

BB Couture Erotic Night. This is a deep wine red jelly with very, very subtle shimmer. The shimmer is completely hidden in most lighting except in the brightest of sun. It just adds another dimension to an already gorgeous colour. If you haven't got this yet and you're thinking about it, I'd get in quick before it disappears since Erotic Night was discontinued a while back...

Both of these are firmly cemented in my favourites list... they're insanely beautiful. Like I said before, probably my two favourite red-based vampies of all time.

Spam For Your Wednesday Worries...

Sorry for disappearing on you guys for a bit! I don't really have any excuse except I just didn't really feel like posting the past week.

Today was a long day and all I really want to do now is escape to my little space of the interwebs. So here is some Middle-of-the-Week Spam for your troubles.

BB Couture Horned Devil. That awesome signature BBC glitter in a bright orange jelly. Love this. LOVE.

Rimmel Azure. Shimmery blue.. slightly frosty. Meh. Nothing special. It has a purple flash in the bottle that doesn't show up on the nail at all.

American Apparel Manila. Manila folder yellow!

Rimmel Forest. I've shown this before. But it is so beautiful it deserves more pics!

Australis Valentine. Beautiful neutral red creme. Perfection in one coat.

And here it is with a little fail konading. It's so smudged! I believe this is plate BM203.

Jordana Wicked. I believe this is dupey to one of the Milani 2009 Halloweens. Orange glitter in a black base.

TBN Green Fluoro. An almost-neon green with a gorgeous shimmer. My pictures are a little colour inaccurate. Imagine it deeper, brighter and more saturated.

Zoya Crystal. Blue and gold flaky particle foil. Is that how you would describe that? I'm not really sure how you would describe this finish. Nevertheless, it's amazing! An exact dupe to OPI Reflecting Pool.

CM Disco Flares. Raspberry jelly loaded with silver glitter. It has a similar feel to Zoya Roxy.

Unnamed Miki. Deep, deep green shot through with gold shimmer. Wow!

China Glaze DV8. Bright teal holo. So nice... my second favourite from the collection.

Camouflage Colour Pumpkin. A slightly muted orange jelly. I don't think this colour is faded or "pumpkiny" enough to be considered a pumpkin orange. Still really lovely though. It's a jelly! Not something you see very often.

And with a tiny, simple black cat konad. Plate HB28. He came out a little wobbly but that's alright. I think it adds to the effect! Kind of like his fur is standing on end :D

I hope you guys are having a great week!
